Live Tracking App
Follow the routes of the Northern Bald Ibises with our Animal Tracker! This free Animal Tracking App offers you the opportunity to recall the position of our birds at any time and to follow them during migration. Wherever the animals are, you are there too - thanks to GPS signals, which are sent by tiny transmitters on the back of the birds and stored in the online database Movebank.
You can also participate actively in our project: If you see one of our tagged Northern Bald Ibises during migration, you can enter this data into the online database and even upload fotos of the sightings. Your information is really valuable for our project, as it enables a much better analysis of the data. Get active and become an Animal Tracker!
The app was developed by the Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology in close collaboration with Waldrappteam and with the contribution of the financial instrument LIFE of the European Union (LIFE+12-BIO_AT_000143, LIFE Northern Bald Ibis).
All project birds are equipped with GPS trackers, which regularly transmit real time position information to a database. In spring and autumn, the birds move along two migration corridors (orange) between the breeding area (green) and the wintering area (blue).
